Semen Collection
Instructions (VIC/SA/QLD)

• 1 x 70ml Yellow-top Container. Available from any Australian Clinical Labs Collection Centre or your doctor.

• Abstain from all sexual activity for 2–7 days prior to the test.
• Obtain the specimen by masturbation. Do not use a condom or any form of lubricant.
• Collect the entire specimen into the clear, sterile, plastic yellow-top container provided.
• Write your surname, first name, date of birth and the date/time of collection on the container label.
• Keep the specimen close to your body from the time of collection until delivery to the lab to maintain the appropriate temperature. Do not chill or heat.

Collection instructions are the same as above, but check with your surgeon as a period of abstinence may not be required.

• Return the specimen, request form and the completed patient instruction form below to your nearest Clinical Labs drop-off location within 1 hour of collection for urgent processing.
• The sample must reach the laboratory within 1 hour of collection.
