Solid Tissue Test

• Minimises need for further biopsies  
  The Melaseq Solid Tissue test is performed on the same biopsy sample removed during a skin examination and complements traditional diagnostic procedures by providing a deeper assessment of the risk of melanoma, based on microRNA markers.  
• Earlier diagnosis 
  Melanocytic lesions, particularly those that are small or undifferentiated, are not always overtly malignant on histopathology. The use of Melaseq in such lesions may clarify the appropriate application of clinical management guidelines, potentially preventing disease progression due to underdiagnosis or lack of a definitive diagnosis.  
• Greater accuracy 
  The Melaseq Solid Tissue test analyses skin cells at the genetic level, demonstrating over 95% accuracy in multiple clinical studies. Melanocytic lesions suspected of malignancy are currently diagnosed via dermoscopy, biopsy and histopathology. However, studies show that over 25% of melanoma cases have diagnostic discrepancies, resulting in changes to patient management in 18% of cases.¹ 

The Melaseq Solid Tissue test is intended to complement conventional histopathology, not replace current diagnostic practices. 

The Melaseq Report generates a Melanoma Genomic Score Test Result as a numeric value, and an Interpretation that classifies the lesion into Class A - low probability of invasive cutaneous melanoma and Class B - high probability of invasive cutaneous melanoma. 
 
Scores range from 0 to 10 and are positively associated with increasing levels of melanoma malignancy. Scores of 2.7 or greater indicate a high likelihood of malignancy and suggest more intensive clinical management actions.  
 
Combining both the histopathology report and Melaseq Sold Tissue result may assist to improve diagnostic clarity for complex melanocytic lesions and enhance confidence in selecting the right treatment plan.
